My organisation's Business Membership with the Chartered Institute has been instrumental to my international trade career, supporting me as I grow in my role. The webinars, member-exclusive resources, and annual conference have all contributed to my learning and given me greater confidence in my day-to-day work.
We chose to become Business Members with the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade because their compliance values align with our own. Business Membership is a strategic investment for Lush as a business because it helps improve our team’s abilities around customs compliance.
Business Membership gives us the knowledge, insights, and support we need to navigate the global trade landscape with confidence. The daily newsletter, webinars, and networking events help us stay informed, compliant, and ahead of regulatory changes. The Chartered Institute is an essential partner to our business.
Working in international trade means regulations and requirements are constantly evolving, so having access to relevant, practical training and regular updates helps our team stay informed and build their knowledge across a wide range of export topics. The team find the sessions engaging and relevant to the work we are doing.
Access to expert guidance gives us confidence and reassurance, and the quick response means that we’re not waiting to deal with issues that occur today. The helpdesk was a particularly compelling benefit for me because I used it in the past to avoid many serious issues with international trade, so I knew that it was important for a new business starting off well.
Business Membership has increased our confidence as a team in a huge way. The training we’ve been through along with the support from the helpdesk, which we’re using on a regular basis, enables our clients to benefit from our expertise. Business membership has helped us reduce compliance risk by ensuring we get it right the first time, every time.
I would thoroughly recommend Business Membership – it's just so useful. We go to their technical helpdesk if we have something that comes to us that we're not sure about. They also offer Lunchtime Learning webinars, led by people who have been in trade so they know exactly what they are talking about.
I think every company should invest in that open knowledge for the team in logistics. There are so many changes and challenges every day. Business Membership has been helpful for the whole team and company.
Through my membership of the Chartered Institute – an organisation dedicated to supporting those who work in exporting and importing – I have access to expertise and industry best-practice vital to keep me and my business informed and operating at the top of our game.
The challenge within this profession is staying on top of ever-changing legislation and regulations. The Chartered Institute is an excellent partner, not just for training courses, but also by providing helpful tools like webinars and special interest groups.
The experience, knowledge and accompanying qualification I've gained from the Level 5: Diploma in World Customs Compliance & Regulations has laid a solid foundation for a bright career in commercial customs and compliance.
Communication from tutors has been excellent, including one-to-one sessions for queries both directly on the course content and to ask advice on how to tackle real-world problem scenarios.
The Level 5 Diploma in World Customs Compliance & Regulations helped me move my career from simply doing customs work to truly understanding the profession.
It gave me the structure and knowledge to think more strategically about international trade and compliance, enabling me to identify risks and make more informed decisions.
The Level 3: Certificate in International Trade has helped me to gain confidence in studying again and in the end gave me a clearer understanding of the complex nature of international trading.
I was unsure about returning to studying after over 20 years, the tutors and course material have made this the right choice for me.
Teaching was not only highly interesting and well‑structured, but also genuinely inspiring. My tutor had a great way of explaining complex concepts clearly and making every topic feel engaging and relevant.
I also want to highlight the positive energy and motivation my tutor consistently brought to each session. It truly encouraged us to stay focused, complete the knowledge checks, and push ourselves to get the most out of the course.
The Level 4 Diploma in International Trade has helped me move my career from a 'job' to a profession.
It’s been like an escalator to a new level of international trade understanding. The tutors were instrumental in helping me explore what I was capable of.
The knowledge and skills I obtained from the qualifications I have achieved were instrumental in my career development.
For future students, I can attest that the investment is deeply rewarding, transforming not only your professional trajectory but also your personal outlook on the world.
The Chartered Institute experts have been nothing short of brilliant.
We received a ‘customs health check.' We’ve since also had help over the phone and by email from Chartered Institute experts. They were unbelievably knowledgeable and incredibly helpful.
Bringing customs declarations in-house has reduced the transit times on the goods that we import and the Chartered Institute has massively helped us with this project.
Had we not implemented the Chartered Institute’s recommendations, we could have lost three to four times the amount of money in subsequent sales.
We wouldn’t have been accepted onto various requests for proposals (RFPs) if we were not able to prove our compliance certification levels.
We have the Chartered Institute to thank for marking our card. Your help resulted in millions of pounds of business being maintained and secured.
Once we contacted the Chartered Institute, they provided the assurance we required very quickly. A health check of the business was implemented and once we understood where we could improve, we chose the right model of help which fitted our business needs.
The Chartered Institute has provided invaluable guidance, not only from their consultant, but the support from being a member is excellent.
Clear and concise and very knowledgeable, the Chartered Institute provided everything we were looking for.
The onsite health check went exceptionally well, I was amazed at how open, honest, and frank the Westmill staff were. I know that if we had gone with one of the big 4, the outcome would have been very different. The consultant made all involved feel comfortable and able to express their thoughts and concerns without holding back.
Friendly and knowledgeable trainer. Any questions asked the tutor answered, and if not known, they asked colleagues and answers were provided. Course contained a lot of information and very thorough in everything covered.
The tutor was very lovely, she explained everything clearly. Particularly when discussing the composite export health certificates, which is a bit more complicated, so very helpful! The course was well structured and allowed for questions in between so was at a good pace!
