A free webinar tomorrow (4 August) will update traders about upcoming rule changes for importing goods from the EU and steps they can take to prepare.
Following the end of the transition period at the end of 2020, the UK government decided to phase in new post-Brexit controls on goods entering Great Britain from the EU.
These new rules were further delayed by the government in March to allow firms struggling with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic additional time to prepare.
However, with the next phase of controls to be introduced on 1 October 2021, time is now running out for firms to ensure they have the skills and processes in place to continue trading with the EU in a compliant and cost-effective way.

The free webinar – entitled ‘How to minimise the risk and cost of complying with new rules for EU to GB imports’ – is taking place tomorrow afternoon at 3pm.
It will focus on the timetable of upcoming changes, including export health certification rules for goods subject to sanitary and phytosanitary checks from 1 October, as well as the requirement for declarations to be completed for all imports from the start of next year.
Experts will give practical advice about what traders can do to prepare for these changes – including using the new Digital Trader Service (DTS) to complete declarations.

The webinar will be hosted by the Institute of Export & International Trade and will feature its academy director Kevin Shakespeare.
Shakespeare will be joined by DTS experts Frank Dunsmuir and Shanker Singham.
Singham is the CEO of international trade law and economic policy consultancy Competere and a former advisor to the UK Trade Secretary and US Trade Representative.
Dunsmuir is the head of international trade and customs at Fujitsu and a non-executive director of the International Border Management and Technology Association.
