All actors in the international supply chain have been advised to sign up to a free webinar on Tuesday 28 March to learn more about why the customs measures announced in last week’s Spring Budget could have such an impact on UK trade.
The Institute of Export & International Trade's (IOE&IT) director of strategic projects and international development, Kevin Shakespeare, said the chancellor’s ‘customs package’ could lead to a wide range of customs facilitations that will make “legitimate trade much easier for businesses”.
“This webinar applies to everyone, whether you are an importer, exporter, wholesaler, distributor, haulier, freight forwarder, customs intermediary, port operator or CSP.
“The session is also of significance irrespective of geography, and will be of interest to supply chain operators in the EU and across the world.”
He advised businesses to sign up to next week’s free webinar titled ‘Spring Budget 2023 customs measures – what you need to know’.
Staying up-to-date
Shakespeare said:
“The chancellor’s package of customs measures in the Spring Budget last week were really important in that they could lead to a significant simplification of customs, import and export processes for traders.
“However, as with any update to the country’s customs regime, businesses will need to stay up-to-date with what the changes will mean for their trade and how they may need to adapt their own processes to ensure continued compliant trade.
“That’s why webinars like the one we’re running on Tuesday are so important. We will share what we know so far about these new measures and inform traders of how they can have their voices heard as the government begins various consultations on how these measures will be implemented.”

Shakespeare will be joined on the panel by Garima Srivastava, a senior trade and customs specialist at IOE&IT, and Ilona Kawka, a digital trade and customs specialist also from IOE&IT.
The webinar, which will take place at 1pm on Tuesday, will cover:
