UK traders can hear about the benefits of the UK-Japan free trade agreement from the lead negotiators themselves at an online conference next week.
The ‘UK Japan Free Trade Summit’ on Wednesday 20 January will provide delegates with an in-depth understanding of how UK firms across multiple sectors can make the most of the trade deal signed last year.
World class speaker line-up
High-ranking officials from Japan, including chief negotiator Hiroshi Matsuura and British Ambassador to Japan Paul Madden CMG, will join Trade Secretary Liz Truss speaking at the event.
Also speaking will be senior figures from government and trade associations in both countries, as well as the IOE&IT’s academy director Kevin Shakespeare who will be presenting the trade and customs implications of the trade deal.

Land of opportunity
The UK’s deal with Japan last year was its first independent agreement in 47 years after leaving the EU.
The deal replicated many of the terms of the EU’s own agreement with Japan but had gains in digital and data, financial services and increased tariff-free trade for more goods – as reported in the Daily Update at the time.
