Yusen Logistics has commenced operations from its new distribution facility in the heart of the East Midlands Gateway in Northampton. The additional cross-dock facility has been commissioned to supply the ongoing growth and development of the Yusen shared user delivery network. The operation utilises 85,000 square foot and will contribute to the Yusen Logistics continued expansion throughout the UK.
The new cross dock facility will provide a hub service for ‘white goods’ customers and the Yusen Logistics pallet network for general goods and will provide an efficient and cost -effective solution to all customers who can now benefit from Yusen Logistics consolidated trunking service which is actively targeting the reduction of the number of vehicles on the road.
We previously reported on Yusen’s expansion of their service offering with the opening of their state-of-the-art flagship warehousing facility in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, which achieved ‘The Planet Mark’ certification last year.
The facility was designed in line with the company’s new Vision – ‘Connecting people, businesses & communities to a better future – through logistics’. The Wellingborough site adheres to the highest environmental standards including an A-rated BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) grade and the best EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) rating possible for its size.
