Cronus Logistics commenced operations in 2014 as a dedicated logistics specialist, offering door to door services across the Irish Sea to connect Ireland with southern and central parts of the UK through the ports of Bristol and Warrenpoint.
Nicola Walker, managing director of Cronus Logistics, recognised that companies were seeking more than just a simple logistic operation between the two locations; they wanted a service invested in economies of scale, saving road miles, and minimising costs and CO2 emissions.
With the aim of delivering this, Cronus set about challenging the status quo by offering an innovative multi-modal transport solution, reaching out to clients looking for warehousing and distribution partners on both sides of the water. The business became a corporate member of the Institute of Export in July 2015. Nicola Walker says: “We joined the IOE because we are passionate about SMEs and wanted to help members learn about the advantages of export. The IOE share our values and with their renowned expertise in international trade, it seemed like an obvious choice for Cronus.”
Cronus offer logistic alternatives that impact positively supply chain operations and costs, and have since demonstrated rapid growth as the newest door-to-door logistics and shipping company on the Irish Sea.
They now operate not only through the ports of Bristol and Warrenpoint, but have relatively recently added Cardiff and Dublin calls to the weekly schedule. This means that companies are now able to ship goods from gateways in the South West to the whole of Ireland. This trade route is a vital link to the important export markets of both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Bristol and Cardiff are now also feeder gateways to and from the West Mediterranean, connecting with the Borchard Line vessels arriving into Dublin.
Recently, Cronus Logistics have also invested heavily in new equipment and expertise in order to handle steel and metal products, delivering a cost effective supply chain solution across the Irish Sea for a wide range of exporters.
