Mr Chris Heaton Harris, Conservative MP for Daventry, has presented the Institute of Export’s (IOE) Certificate in International Trade (CIT) to Lynsey Townsend, an international logistics specialist at Mothercare’s National Distribution Centre at Daventry.
Accompanied by our director general Lesley Batchelor, Mr Heaton Harris toured the facilities at Mothercare and presented Lynsey, who has been with the company for four years, with her award.
Lynsey achieved the highest marks nationally in the Fundamentals of International Business element of her CIT. She said: “I am grateful to Mothercare and the Institute of Export for helping and supporting me towards achieving the CIT. The course has furthered my knowledge in International Trade and will help with my future career development.”
Added Mr Heaton Harris: “Congratulations to Lynsey – it’s great to see companies such as Mothercare investing in developing its employees in the key areas of exporting and international trade. My constituency boasts a vibrant logistics industry which plays a major role in providing thousands of jobs at every level locally. It was a pleasure to look around the Mothercare and Early Learning Centre warehouses and remind myself how professional these operations are.”
Lesley Batchelor said: “Well done to Lynsey on this tremendous achievement. The IOE plays an invaluable role in equipping businesses with the skills and confidence to trade effectively in a global environment and the importance of boosting skills and expertise in this key area cannot be overstated. The Certificate brings a wealth of benefits – enabling students to demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the principles, procedures and documentation of International Trade.”
