High-profile businesses including Unilever, Cambridge University Press, Bibby Factors, Bolero, OCR Global and Intel have signed up to a new special interest group launched by the Institute of Export.
Institute members and non-members alike can benefit from The International Logistics Special Interest Group (TILSIG), which will focus on professionalism in international supply chains and hold regular meetings, events and networking opportunities.
The sessions will enable participants to share and discuss their experiences and issues of international supply chains and devise strategies to tackle problems. In addition, real world and virtual group support systems are being developed.
Many IOE members work in – or have an interest in – international logistics and a wide range of companies are already involved with TILSIG. Among them are logistics services providers, as well as personnel employed in international supply chains – from administrators to managing directors.
A TILSIG steering group meeting was recently held at the offices of IOE member Essentra Components, of Kidlington, Oxford, to assess interests expressed by members and look at how the group can best serve their needs.
Special Interest Groups (SIGs) further the objectives and policies of the Institute and its status as a registered charity by raising awareness of, and growing expertise in, particular areas of international trade activity. They can be regionally or nationally focused – or concentrate on a professional discipline.
IOE director general, Lesley Batchelor OBE, said: “SIGs are a key development that followed the introduction of our new articles of association in November 2014. As such, the new group’s ambition and reach are very exciting and will add a new dimension to the Institute’s support for, and commitment to, international traders. I hope that more groups will be established to tackle the varied activities, needs and interests of our existing and prospective members.”
You can take part in TILSIG events physically or virtually via a conference call or Skype. Simply email TILSIG@export.org.uk with your contact details to get involved.
