The newly Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade will be committed to “empowering” businesses to grow through international trade, its director general Marco Forgione has said.
In a new video explaining the significance of the Institute of Export & International Trade’s (IOE&IT) move towards becoming the Chartered Institute, filmed in Greenwich, Forgione said he was delighted that the organisation had “received the honour to become Chartered” from His Majesty King Charles III.
He said this honour reflects the “foundational role” that IOE&IT has played since 1935 in “evangelising for the benefits” of global trade and its role “professionalising” it as a career path and skill.

Transition
IOE&IT has begun to share details about what its upcoming evolution towards becoming the Chartered Institute will mean for its members and the wider trader community.
The video of Forgione, which was first shared exclusively to IOE&IT members on Monday (17 June), included a first glimpse of the Chartered Institute’s new brand and identity, including its new logo.
IOE&IT informed traders of its move toward becoming the Chartered Institute at the start of June 2024 and is set to complete this transition later in the summer.
Highest honours
When informing members about becoming the Chartered Institute earlier this month, Forgione said that receiving the Royal Charter was “one of the highest honours His Majesty can bestow on an organisation”.
He added that it was an “acknowledgement of the professional status of you, our members, as well as recognition of the Institute’s important role in empowering global trade and its high-standing in public life”.

Forgione also said that IOE&IT is committed to “answering the most frequently asked questions” – or FAQs – that members had about the move – something that it has already begun doing via a dedicated section of its website here.
FAQs to have been answered so far include queries around membership renewals, what becoming Chartered means for IOE&IT’s students and qualifications, and what benefits the new identity will create for members.
New identity
Forgione has also said that the team has been working on a new “fresh and modern brand identity” that “showcases our Royal Charter”.
The new brand will also be used by the Chartered Institute as it approaches its 90th anniversary in 2025.
